Packaging and Assembly
We had fun tracking the package as FedEx Ground moved it from San Diego to upstate NY. Just watching it make its way to Needles, Ca, then to New Mexico and Oklahoma and Chicage. It didn't say so, but FedEx obviously has shipped it on BNSF's "TransCon" intermodal route as far as Chicago. There it had to transfer to either CSX or Norfolk Southern and sure enough with a slight layover it made the rest of the trip on CSX to an intermodal freight yard in Eas Syracuse where it unloaded from teh train and entered FedEx's truck network for a final 2 hour drive here. Took just over a week and the anticipating was building to see what we were getting. In all of this we hadn't given any thought to how it might be packaged, and the FedEx site said 50#, so it was a bit of a surprise when we got not one but two boxes. Then the fun began... This isn't a complaint, its a compliment. The cabinet was extremely well packed for shipping. To the point that it was actually quite a lot of work just to get things unwrapped. This was no simple cardboard box, the outer box was more like cardboard literally glued to 5/16" plywood liner material and the inner packaging included strategically placed foam spacers and such done in such a way that nothing was going to move around, at all. Of course, in the middle of the stack, the glass doors were securely fastened. We don't recall ever getting anything that was as well packaged as this cabinet. Assembly was pretty straightforward with our biggest challenge just getting into the cabinet to install the rear screws on an optional slide out shelf... not a problem, just a cramped space to get into. The color, in our case Golden Oak, was deeper and richer than expected from the stain sample chips and is very pretty. Satisfied: totally. Both the product, and its shipping to us, were very nice. We would have liked one accessory that was not offered, specifically a slide out box. As is, we bought two sliders one of them for a turntable and the other we installed further down and I built my own box about 7 inches deep and mounted it on the slider to create a drawer for some of the CDs. It isn't the same wood type or stain color, but it is close and with the smoked glass front nobody is likely to notice. Thanks for the great product.

50" Stereo Cabinet with Glass Doors
This cabinet exceed my aesthetic and construction quality expectations. I reached out to Peter in December 2025 to order and I received my cabinet in mid-January 2026 (scheduled delivery to avoid Xmas rush). As other reviewers noted, I scanned furniture vendors and stereo equipment firms online to find a suitable repository for my vintage stereo audio components. I found Decibel Designs had products designed to fit my needs and showcase my components. The cabinet survived being shipped from California to Maryland-- arriving in two boxes -- and in perfect condition. The packing job was as good as I ever seen--reflected significant effort. Be forewarned: the robust materials used contribute to heavy unit. My cabinet with tinted glass and an extra sliding shelf weighed in at about 120 pounds! The assembly instructions are fairly good - the average DIY geek can perform assembly -- when accessing the how-to pictorial on the site under the FAQ section. Once you assemble your cabinet -- you may need assistance locating it where you want it -- it is heavy -- before you load it with your TV or audio components. In summary, I am very pleased with my cabinet--it is gorgeous in ebony black finish with clearcoat, and I unreservedly recommend Decibel Designs as a source of quality custom goods.

50" Stereo Cabinet with Glass Doors
My wife and I recently purchased the 50" Stereo Cabinet with Glass Doors and are very happy with the product. Assembly was straight forward following the online instructions. I did divert from the assembly method in that instead of using the supplied nails to attach the cabinet back, I purchased some #2 wood screws and used those instead. It wasn't easy finding a stereo cabinet to meet our needs but this one suits us perfectly. We definitely recommend Decibel Designs! THANK YOU Peter!

50” Stereo cabinet with glass doors and a slide-out shelf
I am very pleased with my Decibel Designs cabinet. I searched furniture stores in person and online to find a replacement for my 1980’s oak entertainment center, which did not accommodated my newer TV and was oversized for my audio components and media. After trying unsuccessfully to recruit a local cabinetmaker to design and build a cabinet for me I renewed my online search. And found Decibel Designs with products designed to fit my needs. Peter was very responsive, answering my many questions. He reassured me about the cabinet being shipped from California to Michigan and it did arrive very well packed and in perfect condition. I had my handyman put it together and load my equipment, LPs and binder of CDs. I am very happy and do recommend Decibel Designs.

Looks great and easier to assemble than I thought it would be
Peter is great, kept me informed on the progress of the project. I had a good enough experience that I ordered a rotating cd tower to match.
